A Bit About Us
We chose to create this organization because we noticed that there are many inequities in the education system in India. Over 200 million children do not go to school, and 195 million are girls between the ages of 5-12 that are illiterate. We at KCWF aim to provide free tutoring to make it easier for students to get help with their homework and not have to worry about costs. Our name came from our founder’s friend, Karishma, who was a young 12 year old that got forced into a child marriage because she belonged to the Dalit community of India. As a result, she was forced to leave her family and go to her husband’s house. Many people believe that caste discrimination is abolished but Karishma is one story among millions of the effects of being a part of the Dalit community. We hope to spread awareness about caste discrimination and help those that are affected by it.
